Is this the career for you?

If you have a head for heights and love to work outdoors then a career as a rope access technician may be for you. As you’re reading this, you probably already know what the role entails and are keen to get started, but in order to work as a rope access technician you must first obtain the correct qualifications.

The most common route for starting a career in rope access is to gain qualifications through the International Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA), that’s where RAMP can help!



What sort of salary does a Rope Access Technician earn?

Becoming a rope access technician is rewarded with a very hansom salary, if you are prepared to work for it. Not only that, but you get to work in some of the most exotic locations around the world.

How long is the course for?

A rope access course consists of 5 Days in total, 4 days Training and 1 day of Assessment.

Do I need to bring my log book?

If you have passed the course previously then please bring your log book with you on the day.

What should I wear?

Comfortable but sensible clothing and footwear should be worn when you attend our courses. You will be provided with overalls on the day for safety.

Does my certificate need to be in date if I am upgrading?

Your certificate has to be in date on the day of assessment to allow you to upgrade.

How old do you have to be to do the training?

You have to be 18 years or older to attend and train to be a rope access technician.

How long will it take to receive my certificate?

It can take up to 60 days to receive your certification, you can use your yellow assessment form for up to 60 days following assessment as proof you have qualified and passed the course.

If I fail my assessment, how long do I have to wait before i can retake it?

Re-assessment is to be taken within 60 days of your assessment, if you do not retake prior to the 60 days, a further full training course is required.
